For those of you that do not know, Craigslist is one of the most visited websites on the Internet. It is also one of the best way to generate instant traffic to a website. I have personally driven over 4,500 people to a website in one day just by posting ads on Craigslist. Click here to watch a video showing the website stats.
Just posting one or two ads will not get the job done, you would need to post many ads to generate a large amount of traffic. The only way to accomplish this with efficiency is by using automated software.
Before you jump into Craigslist you need to understand a couple of things. The last thing Craigslist wants is people posting hundreds of ads on their website. Craigslist has a completely automated system that checks for duplicate ads and either stops the ads from going live or they “ghost” the ad. This means Craigslist acts as if the ad is going to appear on the site, but it really doesn’t.
Here are some tips to be successful at getting your ads on Craigslist:
Randomize ads – The software will help you do this, but you will need to come up with a variety of ads to make sure they are as random as possible. For example, if you want to place a 4 line ad, you would need to come up with different variations of each of the 4 lines.
Verizon air card to change the IP address of computer – Yes, Craigslist can tell if you are using the same computer to post ads over and over. Using a Verizon air card as a dial up modem will change the IP address to make it look like a new computer is posting each ad.
Phone Verified Accounts (PVA) – You will need these accounts to post ads. Each PVA is just an email address and password to log into Craigslist. The trick is, and this is where Craigslist got smart… you will need to verify each PVA with a unique phone number. VoIP or cell phone numbers will not work, it has to be a land line. The easy way to get a PVA is to buy them. Each PVA is allowed to post one ad every other day.
You will need automated software to tie everything together. Craigslist sued a bunch of software posting companies in 2008 and they all went out of business. These were very small companies that couldn’t fight a court battle. So what happen was, companies started opening up shop outside the US.
I personally do not believe in spam and there are ways to use Craigslist without spamming them. This process can be used correctly just as a time saver, so you can generate traffic for your website.
Other websites that are similar to Craigslist, but do not have as much traffic are BackPage.com and Kijiji.com.
